  1. Delivery of Hospitality in Western Sydney High Schools Training Package SIT07 Regional Strategy RTO 90221, Western Sydney Region VET

The new and revised Hospitality Industry Curriculum Framework (approved October 2008), for implementation in secondary schools from 2009 has had a major impact on the resource requirements and the training of hospitality teachers and consequently, the ability of schools to deliver this VET in Schools course. • The Vet In Schools Directorate has released a briefing paper to inform schools of the implications on resources and teacher training.   3. From 2010 all schools will be able to deliver a general Hospitality course that meets the Board of Studies HSC requirements and complies with the training package requirements. This will be a general qualification, Hospitality SIT20207 (General Skills) that will provide students with a range of skills that will enable them to enter a variety of entry level jobs in the Hospitality Industry. Current cohort will continue as is. • From 2010 ATR will be granted based on resourcing audit data. • Schools will apply to run Multi-skilling and will be granted to those that have at least one commercial bay • These schools will need to map the assessment events to demonstrate how they are meeting the TP requirements Multi-Skilling RTO 90221, Western Sydney Region VET

  6. Only schools with a full commercial kitchen will be eligible to apply for ATR to run SIT20307 Hospitality Kitchen operations. • These schools will need to map the assessment events to demonstrate how they are meeting the TP requirements Kitchen Operations RTO 90221, Western Sydney Region VET

  7. All Schools will need to acquire the equipment that is listed on the Hospitality Audit Report that will be coming to Principals during week 3. • The report contains a list of the minimum requirements for the delivery of Hospitality. • It is anticipated that this process will be completed over the next 3 years with cooperative arrangements being in place until then. • Regional support will be provided in the planning phase.   8. Significant Teacher Training implications • All Hospitality teachers will need to up-skill to some extent. • Training will be done in a range of modes; online, work placement folio and face to face attendance at TAFE Teacher Training RTO 90221, Western Sydney Region VET
