  1. Strike Out A new baseball game that is fair by Carter Touchet, Marco Ornelas and Aaron Geller

  2. Object The object of the game is to gain as many points as possible to win the game.

  3. Game Pieces The Game Pieces consist of… • a base ball diamond board • two suits of playing cards • card conversion sheet • 10 pawns • red coin

  4. Preparation • Step one: Place the board on a flat surface. • Step two: Remove the card deck from the bag and split the card deck by suit, and set it in the outfield of the board. • Step three: Chose glove or bat on the coin and flip to determine who will go first. Glove representing the defense and Bat representing the offense. • Step four: Whatever person or persons are on the defensive side must set their Pitcher pawn on the pitcher’s mound (which is in the center of the field). • Step five: The offensive person or persons must put their runner pawn on home plate. (Facing the game board it is the closest base to you). • Step six: Make sure that your pawns are in the correct place and your decks of cards are correctly organized. • Step seven: HAVE FUN!!!

  5. How to Play The offensive player will grab a card from the offensive deck and follow the card number or face card down the list of actions that your player will take from the receiving of that card. The offensive player will tell the defensive player what it means (for example, ground out to short stop). Then the defense will pick a card from there deck. They will then use the chart to decipher how the defense will act. For instance if the offense picked up an Ace then they would look at the Offense Chart and see what happened. Using are chart you can see that it is a ground ball to short stop. Then the person on defense would pick the top card of there deck. Let’s say they pulled up a ten. They would look under the chart that said ground ball and look at what the tenth one. In our case the batter would be out.

  6. How to Play Continued… • In between picking new cards you must mix your deck so that at all times you have 13 cards per deck. • To score the run must be pushed across. • Once you get 3 outs everybody on the bases must switch to the defensive position. And let the other team have its turn. The pawns on the bases are to be removed if there is to be 3 outs. • This will be done multiple times until your team or side will have a total of 3 outs. Then offense will switch to defense and defense will switch to offense. Once both teams each have gone then you start a new inning. There is nine innings in a game of baseball and there is in this game too. After the nine innings are complete you will have your finals score or scores to compare each other. Whichever score is the highest is the person or persons will win!

  7. Vocabulary • Home run: Advancing your pawn all the way around the bases give your team one score. • Triple: Advancing your pawn to third base. • Double: Advancing your pawn to the second base. • Single: Advancing your pawn to the first base. • Time Out: means that the offensive person and the defensive person must select a new card from there deck. • Bunt: When the batter sticks the bat out instead of swinging at the pitch.

  8. This Game is Fair because… • There is an even chance to get some sort of hit or get out. • If you shuffle the cards randomly, it is pure chance that you will get either a hit or an out.
