  2. History ……… 1982 Till 2006 • Govt. issued 8496 taxi permits to the Individual • Nationals during this period • Permits were issued and monitored by Abu Dhabi • Traffic dept. • First Taxi Tariff has been introduced during the year • 1982..

  3. About TransAD… • TransAD (Centre for Regulation of Transport by • Hire Cars), established pursuant to Law no. (19) of 2006 • issued by HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. • Mandated by Law # (19) • Regulate Public & Private Hire Cars (Taxi & Limousines) • Compensation Fund for Owners with monthly payouts • Objective • To ensure the provision of Taxi and Limousine service within the emirate and also to ensure that a safe, secure and efficient Taxi fleet is available for the people of Abu Dhabi.

  4. In 2006 ……….. Restructuring of the taxi sector . Transition Plan . Regulations TransAD – Fund • Transition Plan • Decided to phase out all 8496 old taxis • in 5 Years ( 2007 till 2012 ) • - “Taxi Permit” owner compensation • - 8496 old taxis will be replaced with new taxis. Compensation to the Individual Nationals (Dhs.1000/- per month) Monthly Levy – Dhs.1250 per month (7147 new Taxis) Regulations - Study has been conducted and identified the number of taxis required in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi as 7147 Taxis. - 7 Franchisees each with 1021 Taxis

  8. Responsibilities…. . Selection and appointment of Franchisees . Creation and revision of Franchise Agreement General . Inspection and monitoring of the compliance to the agreement. . Taxi Vehicle specifications . Vehicle Testing, issuance and renewal of Taxi permit . Design of Taxi Equipments eg. taxi-sign, taximeter etc Vehicle . Selection of “COMPANY “ for commercial advertisement . Approval of design, content and compliance to branding guidelines of the advertisement.

  9. . Driver Standards . Guidelines – Drivers Training Driver . Testing, issuance and renewal of Taxi Driver permit . Driver Uniforms – Design and approval . Issuance of Health, Safety and Security standard for passengers . Planning for more taxis, more services etc . Conducting communication and public relations activities for overall taxi services Operations . Operating a 24 hour Customer Service centre with lost & found, complaint logging and booking of taxi . Inspections and Audits of KPIs stated in the agreement
