What makes him or her so special? Write an essay that explains the most important qualities of a friend. Step 1: Ask yourself a question about the prompt. Example: What are the most important qualities of a friend? Step 2: Brainstorm five possible answers to your question. Example: loyalty trustworthiness honesty similar interests sense of humor

Example: sense of humor similar interests loyalty Step 4: The three best answers to your question are the focus of your thesis statement. Write your thesis. Example: The three most important traits of friendship are having a sense of humor, having similar interests, and being loyal in good times and bad.
