  2. Media Matters Thank you to families for supporting our school library media center with library projects this year.  The Computers for Education Program and Box Top Collecting dollars have been valuable resources. It takes lots of dollars to purchase books.  Please take time to talk with your child and make sure he/she keeps books borrowed returned in a timely manner.  Our library has too many "over due books"! And YES!...It is time for the Scholastic BOGO Fair...Buy One and Get One!  BOGO Fair from Scholastic Books will be held at ourLibrary Media Center the week of May 7-11.  Check the letter that will come home with your child noting times to visit.  The BOGO FAIR is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of getting books for summer reading!  Studies show that children who read four or more books over the summer fare better on reading-comprehension tests in the fall.  So... plan to visit our BOGO Fair and BUY BOOKS! Support our Public Libraries too!  Gaston County Public Library is promoting literacy with a Summer Reading Program that begins June 11 - July 28, 2012.  So Dream Big...READ ! "Check it out"...at your Public Library! 5th Grade Charleston Trip Our 5th grade students, teachers and chaperones returned from Charleston Friday, April 27th. It was a successful trip and the students learned a lot while having a good time. The 5th grade teachers would like to thank all of the chaperones involved that made this trip a huge success! Thank you! March 20 Media Matters Costner Students are beginning the New Year with opportunities to choose a "just right book" from our New Book Purchase.  A Grand  THANK YOU to students and staff for all that you do to support our Library Media Center at Costner!!  I am hoping to order some additional books to support our Fifth Grade Battle of Books Team.  This project is possible because we have earned Box Top Dollars.  Thanks to the dedicated effort of Rebekah and Sidnie Allen's Mother, we have received a Box Top check for just over $1800.00!   THANK YOU MRS. ALLEN AND THANK YOU COSTNER STUDENTS FOR COLLECTING THOSE BOX TOPS.  A "winter collecting sheet" will be sent home soon so make collecting Box Tops for Education a project at your home!  Happy New Year to ALL!  Mrs. Cloninger @ Your Library .
