  31. Academic Advising Council • The University of Central Florida’s academic advising programs link the university with its students by providing guidance, information, and assistance to encourage students to make the best possible use of the university's resources. Academic advising is… the process that assists students in the clarification of educational, career, and life goals and the translation of those goals into educational plans. An ongoing, developmental process of communication and information exchanges between an advisor and student, focused on helping each student make informed decisions. These exchanges center on a relationship of trust between the advisor and student, and although advisors provide assistance, each student must take responsibility for his or her decisions. An important component of teaching. All dimensions of advising provide quality service that support student academic progress, contribute to the quality of each student's overall university experience, and address specific individual student needs.
