  4. Binder System • Discipline Calendar • Notes home pocket • Homework pocket • Graded Papers pocket • Please check these daily

  5. Communication • Newletter • Mrs. Naya’s Class facebook page • Website • Monday Progress Reports

  6. English Language Arts • Daily 5 • Small group and individual conferences • Basal work • Writing workshop

  7. Small Group Instruction • Reading text at their level • Targeted skill instruction • Take home readers

  8. Goal Setting • Students set goals and select strategies to practice during Daily 5 sessions

  9. Daily 5 • Read to Self • Read to Someone • Word Work • Writing • Listening to Reading

  10. Debriefing • Students get to talk about what they have learned/ practiced during our Daily 5 rounds

  11. Spelling • Monday Pretest • Enrichment Words if score 100 • Words sent home Monday and also on website

  12. Math • Hands- on approach • Combination of Investigations and Envision • Weekly math quizzes

  13. Homework • Read at least 15 minutes nightly- complete reading log • Prepare for spelling test • Spelling List and Spelling homework on Monday

  14. Homework, Continued • Prepare for weekly math fact quizzes • Occasional subject-area projects or homework

  15. Assignments and Grading • New checklist system for report cards • Written work still assigned • Work to be done at school • Recess or Friday Fun Stuff only if work complete • Reteaching for Mastery on Fridays or at WIN time.

  17. Parties • Christmas, spring, end of school • Valentine’s Day is a teacher designed activity • No Halloween party • We cannot give out addresses or pass out party invitations at school
