  2. Helen Keller was born on June 27, 1880 in Tuscumbia, Alabama. By one year old Helen became ill and was struck blind, deaf and mute all Helen could do was touch and smell. Helen’s teacher Anne Sullivan made huge progress with her ability to communicate with others. When she started working with Anne, she would kick and scream because she didn’t know any better.

  3. What Anne did was put Helen’s hand up to her mouth. And when Anne mouthed out words Helen quickly knew what Anne was saying. And through the rest of her life Helen would put her hand up to other people’s mouths and let them sound out the words so that she could understand. Sadly Helen died form old age on June 1, 1968 at age 87.
