  2. Powering your iPad

  3. Icons To move icon, press and hold icon until it “dances”, drag to a new location, press Home button. To make a folder, drag one icon on top of another icon. It will prompt you to label your new folder. To move icon to a new page, drag it to the far right.

  4. Icons “Dock” To move icon to the Dock, drag it there (5-6 maximum) Icons in the dock, stay at the bottom on every page.

  5. Icons • To close apps • press HOME key twice to see open apps, icons appear at bottom • press and hold one icon until it “dances” • to close each app, press the red minus sign

  6. General Tips • Battery Life • Set Sleep/wake mode • Limit ‘push notifications’ and ‘location services’ • Turn off Wi-Fi when not needed • Turn off Bluetooth when not needed • Passcode Lock • Settings, General, Passcode Lock

  7. Camera • Camera • Click on Camera • Toggle front to rear camera: press symbol at top right. • Change to video camera: slide bar at bottom right. • Screenshot • Simultaneously press: power button and home button. Listen for a camera click sound. The screenshot is now located with your photos.

  10. Adding a Keyboard Purchase an iPad case with a built-in keyboard. Use a wireless Apple keyboard (bluetooth), i.e. from a Mac.

  11. Adding a Keyboard • Use a standard USB keyboard • Purchase an Apple USB Camera Connection kit (made for connecting digital cameras to iPad). • Use camera adapter to connect iPad to USB keyboard.

  12. Moving Documents/Pictures • Dropbox • software (for PC) • app (for iPad) • Sync through iTunes • Load iTunes on your computer • connect iPad to desktop with cord

  14. DropBox www.dropbox.com Share info between your devices (info is NOT secure, don’t use SSN, etc) On your desktop/laptop (at home and at work), download DropBox software.

  15. On your iPad, download the DropBox app. From your desktop/laptop, open your Dropbox icon. Click on the document or picture you want to move. Copy and paste it in Dropbox.

  16. Dropbox It will automatically sync to all devices where Dropbox is loaded. On your iPad, open your Dropbox app.Presto - there it is!

  19. Teacher Observations • Create observation form (in Word, Excel, etc). • Transfer observation form to iPad • Email, Dropbox, etc.

Teacher Observations • Open Dropbox app on iPad, click on uploads, click on document, prompt to open in _______ (Office app) • Examples of MS Office apps: Quick Office Pro, Office HD, etc. • Fill out the observation form and save file • Transfer options: • Email to self • Email to teacher • Put in Dropbox to save on desktop or print.
