  2. Background of Matthew Lewis • 24 years old • Well known for his role as Neville Longbottom in Harry Potter • Has been an actor for most of his life • Spent eight movies playing the “unlikely hero” role

  3. Why Matthew Lewis is Like Telemachos • Matthew Lewis has spent the majority of his acting career playing the role of Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter series: a character who proves his bravery through action. • Matthew Lewis could easily portray the “enchanting grace” that Telemachus embodies.

  4. Neville Longbottom vs Telemachus Neville and Telemachus are very similar in the way that people don’t take them seriously. They both seem immature and frail, but they prove their bravery through actions. Both characters are viewed as weak, immature milquetoasts, but they are both extremely brave characters when called to action.

  5. Text Based Proof Telemachus is well educated and quick witted. His companions have said to him, “you must have gone to school with the gods! They have taught you their fine rhetoric and bold style!” (13). Telemachus was described as, “full of enchanting grace, and the people stared at him in admiration” (15). People look at Matthew Lewis and admire his decorum and style, he is a parallel to Telemachus in this way. Both are young men who people look up to. Both were also ridiculed early on for their incompetence, but finally proved their mettle and earned respect.
