  4. How does an online program work?

  5. Online courses are designed with maximum flexibility in mind. They allow you to complete related coursework when and where it is convenient for you to do so. Two o’clock in the morning or two o’clock in the afternoon; its up to you! • Students interact regularly with one another and/or their instructors using online chats, threaded discussion, bulletin boards, group projects, etc. Assignments, tests, and quizzes are completed and submitted online, and returned to students with appropriate instructor feedback.   8. Can I transfer credits?

  9. A maximum of 9 semester hours of graduate credit awarded by a regionally accredited college or university may be accepted for transfer to a graduate degree program at Edinboro University. Transfer credits will be authorized only if (1) the credit is to be used in meeting the requirements for a Master’s degree (2) a grade of ‘B’ or better must be earned. If the course was ‘P’ (passing) or ‘S’ (satisfactory), the student must provide a letter from the grading faculty member that indicates what the letter grade would have been had the course been graded. This letter must be mailed DIRECTLY from the faculty member, and not from the student. (3) Credits were completed within a five year period from the date of the semester in which the student earned the first accepted credits of the master’s degree program (4) The School Graduate Studies must be provided with an official transcript reflecting the completed course. The Dean of Graduate Studies may deny a student permission to transfer credit when the course is judged to be outdated or inappropriate, or if the proper procedure has not been followed. Can I transfer credits?

  10. For each course, submit a Transfer of Credit Form to the Graduate Office. Also, include a copy of the course description. This must be done at least 4 weeks prior to the beginning date of the course. • Upon course completion have an official transcript mailed to the Graduate Office, 148 Meadville Street, Edinboro, PA 16444. Also, include a copy of the course description. • Transfer credit will be authorized only if written approval of the transfer has been made by the Graduate Dean. • Notification of specific courses which will be accepted for transfer credit will be sent to the student pending approval by the Graduate Dean. How do I transfer credits?

  11. Can I use courses for act 48 credits?

  12. Go to the Edinboro Homepage and locate the KEYWORD SEARCH. Click on the Keyword Search. Type in Act 48. This will take you the link…OR Click on the link provided. http://www.edinboro.edu/departments/education/dean of ed act48.dot Edinboro needs your signature in order to access your Act 48 account and post courses. This is necessary because of the need to use the Social Security Number. Can I use courses for act 48 credit?

  14. Your online course is accessed by going to the Edinboro Homepage and clicking on ‘my edinboro’ or at http://my.edinboro.edu You will enter using you network account username and password. Click on the link for D2L For assistance with logging into your online course or any technical problems you may encounter with your online course, please call the Help Desk at 814.732.2111 or helpdesk@euponline.com How do I access my online class?

  17. How do I order textbooks?

  18. You can order your textbooks from the Edinboro Bookstore. Just go to the EUP homepage and type in ‘Bookstore’ at the KEYWORD SEARCH. Go to the site and look for the course number and section and the professor. The courses in the program will have READ in front of the numbers. Look under this heading to access textbook information. You must create an online account and register at bookstore.edinboro.edu to place an order. At checkout, you will be asked to provide Log-in information: Email and Password. If this is your first time ordering, you need to click on the ‘Register here’ link in order to create an account. THIS LOG-IN INFORMATION IS NOT LINKIED TO SCOTS, BANNER OR ANY OTHER EUP DATA SYSTEM. When you go through the registration process, you can use any email (university or non-university) and you can select a password of your choosing. How do I order textbooks?

  19. What is scots and how do I access it?

  20. SCOTS is the Student Centered On-Line Transaction System This is where you will schedule your classes, pay your bill, get information on your financial aid, and view all the transactions you will make as a student at Edinboro University. To enter your SCOTS account use your entire student ID including the @symbol. You will use a SCOTS pin to access the SCOTS database. This is a 6 digit number PIN that is your birthdate in a mmddyy format. The first time you log in you will be asked to change your SCOTS Pin to a new 6 number PIN. You may use any 6 numbers as long as there are not 3 of the same numbers in a row. Pick a pin that is easy for you to remember but hard for anyone else to guess.   21. How do I access my edinboro email account?

  22. Go to www.edinboro.edu • Click on ‘tech resources’ tab. • Click on ‘webmail and web scheduler’ tab. Under ‘tools & Services Description’ heading, click on ‘S.C.O.T.S. Tools’. • In the ‘S.C.O.T.S. ID’ field, enter your ‘8 digit Student Identification number’, including the ‘@’ symbol. (This number was included in your Acceptance Packet). • In the ‘PIN” field, enter your ‘6 digit birth date’ or your new PIN if you have already reset this in S.C.O.T.S. • Click on ‘Reset network Account’ tab. Follow instructions for creating new Network Password. Write this down once created. Click ‘very & submit’ when finished. Repeat steps 1-3. • For ‘Password’, enter newly created Network Password. • If you experience difficulty accessing your webmail account, please contact the Technology Help Center at 814.732.1000.   24. You will need to check your Edinboro email account on a regular basis. This is a great way to make sure that you are staying up to date and not missing any important announcements for your class. Your professors will be using the email tool within the D2L site. The email that is listed in the D2L site IS your EUP email. For any problems with either your SCOTS or email account, please call Edinboro Helpdesk at 814.732.2111. email…

  25. What is livetext and why do I need it?

  26. LIVETEXT is a web based system which Edinboro University / School of Education uses to assess program effectiveness. All students in the School of Education purchase LIVETEXT at the beginning of their programs. It is a ‘one time’ purchase and you will use it for all major assessments in the program courses. LIVETEXT can be purchased through the EUP Bookstore. You will receive instructions for accessing the product site. LIVETEXT is a password protected product. You will access LIVETEXT and upload your major projects and assignments. Your professors will tell you which projects to upload. In this module you will find the directions for uploading projects. You will also find the directions for retrieving the evaluation rubric and comments from your professors. What is livetext and why do I need it?

  28. Instructions for submitting in LiveText will be given to you in each of your courses. It is as easy as ‘uploading’ a file. LiveText instructions

  29. How do I access articles on eup library and docutek?

  30. You may be asked to access articles on reserve in the EUP Library. Professors may post the required articles on DOCUTEK. When going to the EUP homepage, please look under CURRENT STUDENTS, then go to Baron Forness Library, Go to Electronic Resources / DOCUTEK. You will then follow the links to your professor’s name and course number. How do I access articles using docutek?

  39. What is the reading clinic?

  40. The Reading Masters is an online program with a clinical experience during the summer. You will take classes during the first year which are prerequisites for the clinical experience. Then you will take READ 712 in the summer. READ 712 Reading Clinic is a five week course. You will do four of the weeks online and then one week is completed at Edinboro University of PA. You are required to come to Edinboro and stay for the one week. You will come to Edinboro for a Sunday seminar (time determined by professor). During the week (M-F), you will be working with clients (striving readers) each morning from approximately 8:30-11:00 am and you will have seminars each afternoon from approximately 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Housing information is included in this module under “Housing”. You are responsible for the cost of the clinical. You must complete the CLEARANCES prior to coming to Edinboro. Please do this now so that you will have the appropriate paperwork at the time of the clinical. What is the reading clinic?

  43. How do I apply for Fbi fingerprint clearances?

  44. Applicants must register for background check services prior to coming to the fingerprint site. This may be done at www.pa.cogentid.com by choosing online registration; or by calling 1.888.439.2486 Applicants are required to pay for themselves (APPLICANT PAY) must make payment arrangements prior to fingerprinting. Money orders or cashier’s checks made out to Cogent Systems will be accepted at fingerprint service sites. No cash accepted. Proceed to fingerprint location of your choice.   45. What are the possible dates of the reading clinic?

  46. Clinical dates are usually set up during the last two weeks of June or the last week of July or the first week of August. These dates are determined by the school districts that we work with. It is a process that includes School Board approval. What are the possible dates for the reading clinic?
