  2. Introduction • Jesus once again shows His authority over sickness, disease and even death. • Ask yourself, how would I feel in this situation?

  3. Jairus • Would have been a well know figure in town. • He was the ruler of the synagogue. • A respected man. • A devout Jew

  4. The Woman • The condition she suffered from would make her feel very unwell most of the time. • It would effectively exclude her from Jewish religious life. • She would have been ceremonially unclean. • No physician had been able to help her, despite the fact that she had spent everything.

  5. The Message version • “Daughter, you took a risk trusting me, and now you’re healed and whole. Live well, live blessed”.

  6. Two Different Scenes • We have a woman who is on cloud 9 because she has been healed after 12 years of suffering and misery. • We have a man who has just heard the worst news possible – his only daughter is dead.

  7. Outrageous…… • Jesus says in effect, “don’t worry”…… • Of all the things Jesus could have said, this is outrageous! • Unless Jesus knows something that Jairus and everyone else doesn’t…..

  8. “My dear child, get up”.

  9. Amazed……. • It would be a gross understatement to say that this girls parents were amazed and overjoyed. • What has God done for you that you just can’t help telling people about?

  10. Application. • Wherever Jesus went there was a clash of kingdoms! • Life challenged death…….light challenged darkness. • Jesus embodied the kingdom of God…..He was ushering in a new era of the Kingdom. • His whole ministry was one of spiritual warfare. • He met with sickness & death and overcame them!

  11. Conclusion. • WE have a POWERFUL anointing from God, through the Holy Spirit to do the things Jesus did. • When you walk into a situation, you take the life, light, power, authority and anointing of God with you! You carry the kingdom of God with you.
