WMO Information System(Access to Data and Discovery Metadata) • Increase data visibility • Broaden data access • Simplify data use • Exchanges information in real time • Allows discovery of all data • Is used for a wide range of environmental data – from under the oceans, across land surface to space weather • Has proven cross-border compatibility and reliability (it is built on intl. standards)

WMO Information SystemThe single coordinated global infrastructure responsible for the telecommunications and data management functions Three types of services: • Routine collection and dissemination service for time-critical and operation-critical data and products • Timely deliveryservice for data and products “Push” combination of dedicated telecommunication means and of public data-communication networks, especiallythe internet • Discovery Accessand Retrieval“Pull”1-min, 10-min, etc.
