  2. NSA stands for National Security Agency • It was established after the 2002 terrorist attacks. • They also intercept e-mails and phone calls from U.S citizens.

  3. George W. Bush and Congress • In 2002 George W. Bush signed a document for the NSA

  4. Why • It allowed the NSA to intercept people’s cell phone calls and e-mails. • The NSA claimed that they listened to the phone calls of people who were suspected to be apart of a terroristic groups.

  5. What • George W. Bush signed a document which allows the NSA to use major phone companies like AT&T to record what people say. • According to an article from the Wall Street Journal online congress stopped an experimental Pentagon antiterrorism program to look into electronic data from U.S. citizens for suspicious patterns. The opponents called it too broad and an intrusion on Americans’ privacy after the September 11th attack.( –the online wall street journal) • But the NSA still continued to listen to U.S. citizens today.
