RTE's present SAS specifications aim at upgrading a complete substation or a complete voltage level by one vendor clauses covering the medium and long-term maintenance clauses covering possible future evolutions or extensions Use of IEC 61850 compatible equipment is responsibility of the vendors 1 CIGRE Colloquium B5 2005 Calgary PS 2 Q9 - V. Leitloff (FR) PS 2- Q9 IEC 61850 –advantage for utilities RTE today welcomes introduction of IEC 61850 in its substation in this context, but does not formally require it.

  2. Options for future RTE specifications with regard to IEC 61850 : define an IEC 61850-architecture and -description for the functions in the substation? If yes, to which extend and for which scope? Requirements for interoperability and eventually interchangability? Evaluation in process technical advantages evaluate the resources required to establish consistent and adapted specifications using IEC 61850 effort of maintaining and adapting them in the future 2 Decision to be taken by RTE in 2006
