Use Cases • Use Case: object or behavior to be detected • Person approaching border, Traffic incident, Gate activity, etc. • Alerts are configured and combined to implement a use case • Basic Alert: trigger on simple object or behavior • Object of some Size, Color, Type … • Moving in specific direction, speed or pattern for some duration • Compound Alerts: triggeron more complex behavior • One or more basic alerts that fire in a specific sequence, within some time period

Motion Detection • Use Case Examples: • Area over-crowding • Trigger when 75% of region covered with people • Group Gathering • Trigger when >4 people gather in region for 2 minutes or more • Suitable Factors: • High angle view, uniform or slowly varying lighting, objects (people) do not become completely still • Suitable Image: • Camera Recommendations:

Directional Motion • Use Case Examples: • Enter through Exit • Trigger if object path moves wrong way through Exit • Wrong way traffic • Trigger if car drives wrong way in lane • Suitable Factors: • Activity level medium to low, objects do not significantly overlap in image, high angle view (45 degrees or better) • Suitable Image: • Camera Recommendations:

Abandoned Object • Use Case Examples: • Bag left on sidewalk / in lobby / near critical infrastructure • Object fallen onto highway • Suitable Factors: • Object > 10x10 pixels minimum • Object contrasts well with background • Object not occluded for > 20% of time or for > 5 seconds at any one time • Suitable Image: • Camera Recommendations:

Tripwire • Use Case Examples: • Gate Activity • Triggers when person passes through a gate in either direction • Counting persons entering area • Detect excessive speed • Suitable Factors: • High angle view, minimal traffic parallel to tripwire • Counting: one object at a time • Suitable Image: • Camera Recommendations:

Region Alert • Use Case Examples: • Crowd forming • Trigger when >n people remain in region for >t seconds • Loitering • Person remains in region for >t seconds • Car stopped on highway • Trigger when car stops in region for >t seconds • Suitable Factors: • People: Fewer than 10 (best case), medium to low activity, Vehicles: any activity level • Objects must not significantly overlap • Suitable Image: • Camera Recommendations:
