News from the Mission • [Will focus here on topics not covered elsewhere on the agenda] • Rebaseline process recently completed • launch is scheduled for August 2007 • Launch vehicle activities continuing • Technical interchange meeting (TIM) this week; Mission Integration Working Group (MIWG) meeting in August; ATP (turning on the contract) in September. • SWIFT lessons learned session last week • Ground system implementation proceeding • facility space taking shape at Goddard • first Mission Operations Center (MOC) software release (next one in Sept) • first Ground Readiness Test (of 7 planned) in April. Next ones in June and September

  3. Spacecraft Status • Flight structure fabrication complete, mass models integrated, and structure successfully qualified • Harness integrated • Completing flight boxes (~3/4 of components delivered) • Spacecraft integration starting • A current issue: working through a problem found in other projects with earlier version of critical release mechanism part (Qwknut) for our solar arrays and Ku-band antenna.

  4. THE LOOK AHEAD • The GLAST mission is completing the fabrication phase and has started integration. • LAT, GBM, and spacecraft assembly complete by early 2006. • Delivery of the LAT and GBM instruments for observatory integration spring 2006. • Observatory integration and test spring 2006 through summer CY07. • Launch in August 2007… Science Operations begin within 60 days.
