Roles and Responsibilities • The responsible body for reducing crime, disorder and substance misuse • Statutory duty to work together as set out in the Crime and Disorder act (1998) • New responsibility to reduce reoffending • Must conduct an annual strategic assessment to identify priorities • Must organise its business both at a strategic and operational level to address these priorities • Must overview its performance against its targets

Some of our activities 2009/10 • Full family approaches to reduce crime (Tiered approach to harm reduction-FIP) • Projects to help improve the night-time economy (Lolly pop scheme, alcohol and cocaine advice cards, multi agency visits) • Interactive workshop with Primary schools on the dangers of Gang membership • Protecting vulnerable elderly residents (Door handle alarms) • Reducing ASB with mobile CCTV • Reducing speeding (Community speed watch) • Helping to protect cyclists (Bikeablity) • Supporting prisoners away from crime (Futures unlocked project)

Priorities for 2010/11 • Violent crime (Focus on alcohol related & domestic abuse) • Road Safety (reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured) • Anti-social behaviour (Focus on Rowdy nuisance) • Serious acquisitive crime (Focus on Burglary dwelling & Theft from Motor Vehicles) • Prevent violent extremism • reducere-offending • Increase public confidence in how well we understand deal with local ASB and crime

  7. Plans for 2010-11 • Planning for Football World Cup-multi agency response to reduce violence and disorder • Reactive response to acquisitive crime spikes as they emerge • Enhanced patrols over Summer Holiday and Halloween period to reduce ASB and Arson • Closer working with the Road Safety unit to reduce road casualties • Involved in Countywide plans to increase confidence
