  4. Ask for Personal Information • How old are you? • May I have your name? • Could I have your address? • Where are you from? • What do you do? • What does he look like?

  5. Talk about personal information • I’m in my early/late thirties. • My address is 12, Garden Street, Beijing. The zip code is 100001. • My e-mail address is Qianghong@sina.com. • I come from Chengdu. • I’m an English teacher in No. 2 primary school. • He has a lovely round face with big bright eyes. His hair is curly.

  6. Vocabulary • Apply for 申请,请求得到 Eg: I didn’t get the job that I had applied for. He is applying for a master’s degree. • 填表: fill out the form, fill in the form • As soon as possible 尽快 Eg: Please hand in your paper as soon as possible.

  7. Group Work • Task : Getting to know each other • Exchange some personal information • such as :Name,age/ date of birth, hometown,department, major,hobby, school name, telephone number, address, etc.

  8. Describe people • What … look like? • He/She seems/appears + adj. • He/She has + adj. + hairs/face/nose/mouth/eyes • His/Her hairs/face/nose/mouse/eyes is (are) + adj. • Age: He/She looks to be in his/her early thirties/ mid forties/late fifties … • Color of clothes, dresses… He/She is in red dress/ black suit … He/She dresses casually/wears casual clothes. His/Her suit /dress is in fashion/style.

  9. Height: tall, short, average height… 7. Weight/figure: slim, slender, good-shaped, average height, heavy, strong, overweight, underweight, athletic… 8. Personality: good/bad/ill tempered, gentle, easy-going, inward, out-going, open-minded, sociable, reserved, generous, friendly, talkative, interesting, cheerful, aggressive…

  10. Vocabulary词汇 描述人的外貌的词汇 • short/ tall /thin/average height /slim/quite big/ overweight /too fat /one metre seventy • Good-looking, ordinary-looking, handsome, beautiful, pretty , graceful Eg: He is tall and thin. She is very slim. She is overweight.

  11. Vocabulary词汇 描述头部的词汇 • Eyes: bright blue/brown /clear black eyes • hair :black/brown/dark black/grey/short/long/ curly/wavy/straight hair Eg: long black hair medium straight hair short wavy/curly hair

Vocabulary词汇 描述人的性格的形容词 A 褒义词 • kind/humor/interesting/funny/friendly/nice/ confident/self-confident/outgoing /easy-going/intelligent/bright/clever/smart/ • quiet/calm /optimistic/ introvert • patient/ sociable/ brave/diligent/hard-working/careful/active/reliable/ generous B 贬义词: • unkind / stupid/ foolish/ talkative /serious/ bad temper /shy/timid/ moody/ impolite / workaholic / aggressive/ pessimistic/ Eg: He is in bad/good temper. I am in good/bad mood.

  13. Sentence Pattern • 描述人的外貌和性格的句型 a. What does he look like? (询问外貌) -- He’s tall/short/one meters seventy/slim/quite big/average height -- He’s got long/short/fair/dark curly /wavy/straight hair. -- He wears glasses. -- He is wearing a pair of glasses -- He is strong but a little shy. -- He’s tall, handsome, athletic, attractive… -- She is charming/ good-looking/beautiful/ smart -- He looks like a film star.

  14. Sentence Pattern b. What’s he like? (询问性格) -- He’s kind/ shy/ funny / friendly / quiet / intelligent / stupid / talkative/confident / nice/outgoing/serious. -- He’s kind/strict/ patient to his staff.

  15. Describe what a friend looks like and his or her personality Sample • I have a lot of friends, and Tom is one of them. • Tom is good-looking. He has bright blue eyes and short curly hair. He is tall and athletic . • He is a friendly man who never bicker with others, so he is very popular, too. • Tom is so conversable that any of my colleagues wants to make friends with him. I like him very much.
