  3. Introduction • Review of progress to date in implementing the Expert Panel’s recommendations from the September 23, 2009, meeting in Keeler (ref. 1/10/09 Expert Panel Position Statement). • Update of “Shoreline Monitoring Progress Report,” presented at December 7-8, 2009, Expert Panel meeting in Los Angeles.

  4. Equipment Available • 13 E-Samplers: • Six E-Samplers recently factory calibrated. • Seven more went back for factory calibration. Expected back by mid-April. • 6 BGI samplers: • Monthly audits by District • All equipment tested in Keeler Yard before deploying. • LADWP currently has up to six ready-to-deploy pairs.

  5. Events Sampled to Date

  6. 9/30/2009 • Wind from the South • A BGI/E-Sampler (2) placed in North Beach Area. • North Beach TEOM from District • TEOM 1-hour Max = 280.7

  7. 9/28-9/30 event

  8. 9/29-9/30

  9. 12/22/2009 Event • Wind from the North • A BGI/E-Sampler pair placed at Flat Rock shoreline. • Flat Rock TEOM and wind data from District’s Dust Report Archive • Flat Rock TEOM 1-hour Max = 1,897 mg/m3 • Flat Rock TEOM 24-hour Max = 214 mg/m3 • BGI 24-hour = 492 mg/m3

  10. BGI, 492 223

  11. Time Resolved BGI and FR TEOM

  12. Time Resolved BGI and FR TEOM

  13. Time resolved BGI with Wind Speed

  14. Short Term Path Forward • Deploy available BGI/E-Sampler pairs through the end of the current dust season (June 30). • Obtain all filter weights from the District. • By September 1, time-resolve the BGI concentrations for purposes of calculating K-factors. • Compare BGI/E-Sampler K-factors with default K-factors and Dust ID K-factors.

  15. Areas of Interest for Monitoring • Shoreline north of Study Area 1 • Cottonwood Point (for comparison with Stanley values)

  16. Monitor Location Areas of Interest for Monitoring • Area between Shell Cut and Flat Rock • Area between Shell Cut and Dirty Socks.
