  1. Welcome to Top-Bearing Co., Ltd What are cylindrical roller bearings?

  2. A bearing can be of several types like needle thrust bearing and come with its own set of advantages. Which one you use mainly matters on the function and design of the product you are using it on. One of the most commonly used bearings is the cylindrical roller type. This article further provides some more information on the same. • As the name suggests, a cylindrical roller bearing uses cylinders as the rolling elements. This is also the main difference of this type amongst the others since most bearings use balls to reduce friction. The cylinders have longer in length than they are wider in diameter. This provides a better radial load capacity of cylindrical roller bearings when compared to ball bearings. Apart from that, a cylindrical roller design including allows these parts to reach relatively higher speeds than any other style of roller bearings.

  3. Why use cylindrical roller bearings? • Cylindrical roller bearings have a greater radial load capacity; can accommodate immensely faster speeds and a couple of other benefits. This combination makes it ideal for application in these: • Oil and gas • Machine tools • Electric motors • Pumps • Material handling • Wind turbines

  4. How are cylindrical roller bearings different than other types? • There are many types of cylindrical roller bearings, out of which single row cylindrical rollers are the most commonly used and are separable. This further makes it easier for mounting and dismounting. However, this feature also hinders its capability to support the radial load of certain applications. Multi-row and double row cylindrical roller bearings provide far better radial load capacity and can also transmit axial loads in one direction. • Much like the other types, cylindrical roller bearings also have several lubrication and clearance options. The choice of both depends on the supplier and manufacturer. Cylindrical roller bearings can either be made as a full complement part or as a roller cage bearing.
