  2. Certain things damage the inner layers of the coronary arteries. • Some factors include: • Smoking • Hypertension • High amounts of certain fats & cholesterol in the blood • High amounts of sugar in the blood due to insulin resistance or diabetes Pathophysiology

  3. The main sign is Angina, chest pain, which occurs when you heart muscle doesn’t get enough oxygen-rich blood. • Shortness of breath. • May feel Like pressure or squeezing pain in your chest. Signs and Symptoms

  4. People who: • Take in high amounts of salt • Smoke • Are obese • Have diabetes Who gets it?

  5. Don’t smoke • Exercise • Control blood pressure • Eat healthy diet • Ask your doctor about taking a lose dose of aspirin each day Prevention

  6. The results of a physical exam & diagnostic tests & procedures such as: • EKG(Electrocardiogram) • Stress Testing • Chest X-Ray • Blood Tests Diagnosis

  7. Lower the risk of blood clots forming, which can cause a heart attack • Prevent complications of Coronary Artery Disease • Relieve symptoms • Reduce risk factors in an effort to slow, stop, or reverse the buildup of plaque Treatment

  8. It depends on the type of blockage, its severity and the care provided to lessen the risk of serious heart damage. Prognosis
