  3. Prayer Dear Heavenly Father, School has started once again and we praise you for a fresh beginning. May our hearts remember to seek you first each day. We praise you for every individual involved in our education; and we ask for the wisdom, safety and protection only you can give. Thank you for giving us strength to meet new milestones. May we rely on you to help us move peacefully through each routine and to master every challenge. Thank you for loving us and giving us one another. Thank you for the gift of a new school year. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Teachers • Year 2 Teachers 2019 • 2 Red – Mr Salib • 2 Blue - Mrs Narse • 2 White – Mrs Hydo • 2 Yellow – Miss Henry • Assyrian Teachers in Year 2 are; • 2 Red - Mrs Ismail (3 hrs) • 2 Blue - Shamasha Ninos (3 hrs) • 2 White - Miss Ismail (3 hrs) • 2 Yellow – Mrs Jajo (2 hrs) & Mrs Narse (1 hr)

  5. Routines • LIBRARY • Monday- 2White • Tuesday- 2Blue • Wednesday- 2Yellow • Friday- 2Red • SPORT • Wednesday- 2Red & 2Blue • Thursday- 2White & 2 Yellow

  6. Sip & crunch • Students to bring fruit, vegetables every morning for Sip & Crunch. • A bottle of water is also necessary.

  7. No Party Policy • No cake • No lollies • Teachers reward students with birthday stickers and certificates. • Class Birthday buckets are available for purchase from the office (fill out the form in the office). - Birthday buckets include jelly sticks for all students in your child’s class.

  8. Curriculum English/Literacy- Two hours daily • Get Reading Right (reading and spelling) • Quality Literature (reading and writing) • Reading Fluency and Comprehension • Super six comprehension strategies • Handwriting.

  9. Curriculum continued Mathematics/ Numeracy- 1 hour daily • Number and Algebra- whole number, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions and decimals, patterns and algebra • Measurement and Geometry- length, area, volume and capacity, mass, time, 3D, 2d and position • Statistics and Probability- data and chance.

  10. Curriculum continued • From Term 1-4 • Assyrian- 3 hours per week • Christian Studies- 2 hours per week including Prayers and Hymns. • PDHPE, Creative Arts taught 1.5 hours per week. • Term 1-Geography • Term 2 & 3 - Science and Technology • Term 4 – History

  11. Learning support • Students requiring addition learning support or enrichment are referred to our learning support unit. • Mini Lit

  12. SKOOLbag • An app where you can read up on any important information about year 2 and other school business. To download go on to App store of Apple and Playstore for Android.

  13. Assessment • English- Reading, Writing and Speaking and Listening assessed on a regular basis • Mathematics- each topic will be assessed for reporting. • All other KLAs are assessed twice a term.

  14. Homework Handed out each Friday and Monday and due Friday • Home Reading • Spelling • Sentence writing • Mathletics

  15. Excursions • Featherdale Wildlife Park in early Term 2 (notes will go out shortly via Skoolbag app)Links to Science and Technology, History and English.

  16. Communications with teacher Teachers are available before or after school to meet and discuss progress of students. Please make an appointment through the office. Or contact teacher through Classdojo messages.

  17. Awards system 40 Dojo points = Assembly award 4 assembly awards = 1 Principal award Assembly awards carry on from year to year
