  1. 1st Grade Attributes of 3-D Shapes Activities to use with your students.

  2. 1st Grade Common Core Geometry Domain Reason with shapes and their attributes. 1. Distinguish between defining attributes (e.g., triangles are closed and three-sided) versus non-defining attributes (e.g., color, orientation, overall size); build and draw shapes to possess defining attributes. 2. Compose two-dimensional shapes (rectangles, squares, trapezoids, triangles, half-circles, and quarter-circles) or three-dimensional shapes (cubes, right rectangular prisms, right circular cones, and right circular cylinders) to create a composite shape, and compose new shapes from the composite shape.

  3. 3-D Shape RiddlesMatch each riddle to a shape. I’m a box for shoes, and cereal, too. I’ll hold your ice cream for you. You can wear me as a party hat, too. Inside me are sauces. Soup I can hold. Or, think about a paper towel roll. Kids use me to play games with bats and bases. I’m a shape with no faces!

  4. 1.G.2. Harvey made a castle with geoblocks. What can you make with your geoblocks?

  5. Harvey made a castle with geoblocks. How are the shapes Harvey used the same? How are they different?

  6. His friend made this shape. Harvey made a castle with geoblocks. How are the shapes they used the same? How are they different?
