  2. Siemens-Westinghouse Science Competition Individual effort (12th grade): local finalists (30), national finalists (6) Team effort (11th or 12th grade): at least two students. Intel Science Talent Search National semifinalists (120), finalists (30) and placement final competition in D.C. PA Science Fair Challenge: Lack of tradition. Try: High schools in Parkland, East Penn and Southern Lehigh.

  3. tenhigh school students, 6 of them being underrepresented groups (women or minority students), have worked with the PI and became national (Intel or Siemens-Westinghouse) competition finalists/semifinalists, and then were able to enter some of the best universities: Brandon Imber, Intel national Finalist, top 30 nationwide, now at Harvard; Clara Tow, Intel national semi-finalist, now at Cornell; Mike Bigesno and Matthew Cons, Siemenz-Westinghouse regional finalists, top 30 nationwide, now at MIT and Johns Hopkins, respectively; Heidi Shieh, Siemenz-Westinghouse national finalist, top 6 nationwide, now at Harvard; Dorothy Jean (now at Yale) & Heidi Hsieh, Siemens-Westinghouse regional finalists, top 30 nationwide).
