  1. Keats 4th December 2008

  2. Move in to the following groups: • Sean, Milly, Bethan, Jemma, Georgia • Becky, Ben, Hannah Wicheard, Vanessa, Leon • Carys, Ailsa, Leah, Will, Hannah Walker • Ellie, Laura, Amy, Chloe,

  3. This is your area of expertise: • ‘La Belle Damme Sans Merci’ • ‘The Eve of St. Agnes’ • ‘Lamia Part II • ‘Lamia Part I’

  4. Your task: • Create an A4 sheet to act as an aide memoir for revision in the summer • Give the title of the poem and the year of publication • Briefly describe the events of the poem • Note any key themes/ideas that are tackled in the poem • List five key quotations and explain why they are important

  5. Aspects of Narrative • Your exam is two hours long, split in to section A and section B. • You will have been prepared in four texts – Keats, Auden, Roy and Fitzgerald. • Section A – choose one of these texts (I strongly suggest Keats) • Section B – writing about the remaining three.

  6. Let us assume you choose Keats for Section A: • You have an hour to complete Section A • There is Section A1 and Section A2 (30 mins on each question). • These are short – no introduction, no conclusion – a straight answer, really getting in to the poems.

  7. Section A1 • Will focus on an extract (e.g. The opening 46 lines of ‘Lamia’) • Will assess you on A01, A02 and AO4 • The mark scheme assess you very closely on ‘Language, Form and Structure’ • Follow plan of addressing each aspect, analysing how Keats uses this aspect then relating to destination.

  8. Section A2 • Will ask a general question covering all three poems • Will assess you on AO1, AO3 and AO4. • Will focus very tightly on how you respond to the themes across the three texts – on how you pick up patterns and evaluate them • Will ask you to show you can present a variety of interpretations (balanced argument)
