  4. Who celebrates this holiday? • Any one that wants to celebrate this holiday can if they want to. • Who ever believes in the reenactment of the search for shelter by Mary and Joseph before the birth of Jesus • It is mainly popular in Hispanic neighborhoods Home Las Posadas

  5. Why do people celebrate this holiday? • People celebrate this holiday to reenact the day that Mary and Joseph went around to find shelter the day before Jesus was born. • Mary and Joseph went traveling from Nazareth to Bethlehem. To find baby Jesus shelter. Home Las Posadas

  6. When does this holiday take place? • This holiday takes place in the month of December. • It is observed for nine days • It goes on through December 16th through the 24th. Each and every year. Home Las Posadas

What are some traditions of this holiday? • People get in groups and do the reenactment of Mary and Joseph • You have to carry lit candles • 1 child dresses as an angel, that who leads the procession • Some people have parties and feasts after the ninth night of the holiday • children have piñatas • The piñata is in a shape of a star, which represents the one that guided the three kings Home Las Posadas

  14. Why do people celebrate this holiday? • A small Jewish army defeated another army • The other army banned the Jewish religion so they had to fight for it • This whole war started in 165 BCE Home Hanukkah
