Enforcing Religious Uniformity under Louis XIV

During the latter part of his reign, King Louis XIV intensified efforts to establish religious uniformity in France. Influenced significantly by Jesuit ideology, he perceived religious diversity as a potential threat to social stability and an invitation to rebellion. In his pursuit of conformism, Louis XIV disregarded the Noblesse de Blood in church appointments, favoring instead the Noblesse de Robe. This shift in policy highlighted his desire for control over religious and political spheres, shaping the landscape of France in the process.
