  3. 6For in Scripture it says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” I Peter 2:4-12

  4. 7Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, “The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone,” I Peter 2:4-12

  5. 8and, “A stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.” They stumble because they disobey the message – which is also what they were destined for. I Peter 2:4-12

  7. 10Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. I Peter 2:4-12

  8. 11Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul. I Peter 2:4-12

  9. I Peter 2:4-12 12Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

  10. Soul Talk– It Does A Body Good!

  11. Revelation 9:6 When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they had maintained;

  12. I Peter 2:4-5 4And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men, but is choice and precious in the sight of God, 5you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

  13. Four Foundational Qualities- W.E.L.L • Worshipping church • Evangelizing church • Learning church • Loving church

  14. 1. To be well we must be a worshipping church Acts 2:42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

  15. 1. To be well we must be a worshipping church Acts 2:46-47a 46Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, 47praising God and having favor with all the people.

  16. The first century church was built on prayer & worship. They didn’t follow signs & wonders, signs & wonders followed them!

  17. John 4:21-24 True worship engages the mind and heart.

  18. 2. To be well we must be an evangelistic church Acts 2:47b 47And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.

  19. Evangelism happened regularly as early believers lived out their faith. Healthy, well-fed, worshipping believers will reproducethemselves.

  20. 3. To be well we must be a learning church Acts 2:42a 42They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship

  21. II Timothy 2:15 15Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. You develop an appetite for what you are fed.

  22. Hebrews 5:11-14 11Concerning him we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. 12For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food.

  23. Hebrews 5:11-14 13For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. 14But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.

  24. A learning church is a church where discipleship is taking place.

  25. 4. To be well we must be a loving church Acts 2:44-46 44And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; 45and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need.

  26. 4. To be well we must be a loving church Acts 2:44-46 46Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart.

  27. Matthew 19:19 “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Would it change things if you really loved them like you loveyourself?

  28. How about letting the “GreatPhysician” give us a check up? We need to get W.E.L.L. and stay W.E.L.L. Now that’s a “Soul Talk”!
