  2. Purpose, Methods & Patients Purpose Visualisation and detection of lens position of phakic intraocular lenses in the anterior chamber of the human eye. Methods • Phakic irisfixated IOLs (Verisyse, AMO) were implanted to correct ametropia (Figure 1) • Lens position in the anterior chamber was measured with Zeiss Visante OCT (Figure 2) • ACD was measured with Zeiss IOL Master (Figure 3) and Oculus Pentacam HR (Figure 4) • Data were collected 4 to 26 months postoperatively Patients 24 eyes of 12 patients, mean age of 38.1 ± 5.9 years Figure 1 Figure 3 Figure 2 Figure 4

  3. Results I ACD preop in mm Distance cornea – pIOL in mm Figure 5 shows the pIOL in the anterior chamber. The distance from pIOL to corneal endothelium magnified in Figure 6 and pIOL to cristalline lens in Figure 7. Figure 7 Figure 6 Figure 5 A high correlation between the preoperative anterior chamber depth and the distance of the phakic IOL to corneal endothelium (r = 0.83) was found (figure 8). The deeper the anterior chamber the greater the distance between cornea and phakic IOL. Figure 8

  4. Results II Figure 10 Figure 9 • The mean distance between the phakic IOL and the endothelium of the cornea was 2.21 ± 0.31 mm (figure 9) • The mean distance between the natural crystalline lens to the phakic IOL was 0.80 ± 0.18 mm (figure 10) • High correlation was found between target refraction and refraction three months postoperatively (R = 0.98) (figure11) Figure 11

  5. Conclusion The Zeiss Visante OCT is suitable to demonstrate IOL position in the anterior chamber of the eye. The data analysed showed a confident implantation without impairing the corneal endothelium over a 26 months follow up period. • Literatur • Konstantopoulos A, Hossain P, Anderson DF.Recent advances in ophthalmic anterior segment imaging: a new era for ophthalmic diagnosis?
