  2. Purpose of Trip Generations • The first step of traffic forecasting • It predicts the number of trips originating from or destined for a location • Trip generation is used by planners to determine fees and taxes for new construction

  4. Differences Between Stand Alone Stations and Community Centers ○ Stand Alone Stations Are for Police Purposes Only ○ Community Centers Include Uses for Community Meetings, Courts, Fire Stations, or City Offices

Purpose of Our Project • ITE Manual (Institute of Transportation Engineering) • The trip generation as described in the manual is based on land use and building square footage • The manual, however does not include information regarding stand-alone police stations • Our purpose was to gather statistical data to create a trip generations for stand-alone police stations

Process Important Factors • Traffic Caused by the Existence of the Station • Building Uses • The Building’s Size • Parking Spaces • Number of Employees • Peak Hours of Operation Data Collection • Between the Hours of 4 PM to 6 PM • Time Intervals of 5 minutes • Note Police Vehicle or Private Vehicle • If Necessary Differentiate Between Police Traffic and Other Traffic
