Nilotinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor used in targeted therapy for Chronic Myelocytic Leukemia (CML). It blocks the signals from Bcr-Abl proteins to halt the overgrowth of malfunctioning white blood cells. Despite being a second-generation drug, it offers improved target specificity compared to Imatinib. This medication comes in white/slightly yellowish powder capsules, with FDA approval for marketing in the USA in June 2010. Hong Kong's Hospital Authority is currently considering its approval.
