  2. TRUTH

  3. 1 Christians are transformed into the image of Christ by following His example.

  4. Philippians 2:5-6 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,

  5. Philippians 2:7-8a but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself . . .

  6. Philippians 2:8b-9 and became obedient to death — even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name.

  7. Proverbs 4:18 The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.

  8. Romans 6:4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

  9. Luke 9:23 Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

  10. Luke 9:24 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.

  11. Christ empties Himself God exalts Him Death on the Cross

  12. 2 The opposite path is trying to avoid the cross. Satan is the model for this path.

  13. Isaiah 14:13 You said in your heart, "I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly,on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain.

  14. Isaiah 14:14-15 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High."But you are brought down to the grave, to the depths of the pit.

  15. Be Like God I Will Ascend Brought to the pit

  16. 3 The Path of the Righteous is a process of walking in truth, repentance, and faith.

  17. Acts 20:20-21 (NASB) I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable . . . teaching you . . . of repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

  18. Faith Truth Repentance

  19. Truth

  20. 4 Because beliefs precede actions, the first step toward change is a process from moving from lies to truth.

  21. There are only two kinds of beliefs — truth or lies. Jesus is the source of truth, and demons are the source of lies.

  22. John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

  23. John 8:44a You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him.

  24. John 8:44b When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

  25. 5 The first step in the Transformational Process is to help people identify the lies in their lives and replace them with truth.

  26. Truth Skill:Listening

  27. 6 We provide a context for people to see the lies and hear the truth through careful listening.

  28. 7 Listening helps people be honest about their faulty beliefs. It builds trust, encourages transparency, and uncovers lies.
