  1. IOL power calculation after LASIK Yukiko Kora, MD. Hamamatsu Medical Center, Shizuoka, Japan

  2. Purpose To compare the methods used for calculating intraocular lens (IOL) power for cataract surgery in eyes that have undergone laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) “using traditional keratometry “

  3. 9 eyes (8cases) PEA+IOL after LASIK Subjects caseAXLpost-op.* VApost-op. Ref actual inserted IOL power 124.88mm 20/15 0.75 D 19.5 D 2 26.55 20/15 0 20 3 25.74 20/15 0 21.5 4 29.97 20/15 2.25 13 5 20.53 20/15 1 26.5 6 25.02 20/30 -1.5 18 7 26.34 20/15 0 20 8 25.91 20/15 0 19.5 9 26.17 20/15 0 19 * post-op after LASIK

  4. Measurement 1) axial length:measured by A-scan before cataract surgery 2) traditional keratometer: K1: before LASIK (pre K) K2: after LASIK (post K) A-scan : TOME (AL-1000) or Nidec (UD-6000) Keratometer: Canon( RK-3)

  5. Double K method (DKM) for SRK/T (Aramberri. J) 1) ACDest is calculated using pre K (K1) 2) the emmetropic IOL power is calculated using post K (K2)

  6. Methods 1) traditional SRK/TusingK2 2) SRK/T( Double K method) using K1 and K2 3) SRK/T(Double K method) usingpost-K by Clinical History method 4) traditional SRK II using K2

  7. Result 1)traditional SRK/T式 CC 0.73 IOL power by SRK/T 40 D 35 30 25 20 15 10 D 10 15 20 25 30 35 40 Y = -.653 + 1.121 * X; R^2 = .528 Actual inserted IOL power

  8. Result 2)SRK/T式 (DKM) CC 0.78 IOL power by SRK/T (DKM) 40 D 35 30 25 20 15 10 D 10 15 20 25 30 35 40 Y = -.653 + 1.121 * X; R^2 = .528 Actual inserted IOL power

  9. Result 3)SRK /T CC 0.68 IOL power by SRK/T(DKM) using clinical history K2 40 D 35 30 25 20 15 10 D 10 15 20 25 30 35 40 Y = 5.728 + .952 * X; R^2 = .463 Actual inserted IOL power

  10. Result 4)SRK II CC 0.83 IOL power by SRKII D D Actual inserted IOL power

  11. The IOL power calculated by the SRK II formula (X) and actual inserted IOL power (Y) had the most significant correction coefficient. IOL power (D) = 0.71x IOL power calculated by SRK II+6.7 (CC 0.826, p<0.01)

  12. Conclusion The use of the modified SRK II formula might be useful to calculate IOL power for patients who had undergone LASIK surgery.
