  3. MICROSYSTEM The microsystem is made up of the places that influence Brian through the his physical presence (Harwood, Miller, Vasta, 2008). HOME (parent’s) SCHOOL (peers, teacher) NEIGHBORHOOD (Mrs. Dickson) BRIAN CHURCH (community) Home * Brian’s Father is a strong, competitive and caring man that teaches Brian how to play soccer on the weekend at the park. His Mother is a hardworking, nurturing and humorous woman that regularly talks to Brian. School * Brian’s friend Ted is a loud, confident and active boy who likes to play sports and socialize with the other children. His other friend Bill is also loud, positive and smart who is very popular with the kids and teacher’s. Brian’s teacher is a caring, funny, and positive woman who’s compliments the students that do well regularly. Neighborhood * Mrs. Dickson is a understanding, honest and patient woman who allows Brian to confine her with anything that troubles him and helps him greatly with his school work. Church * At church there are a lot of people from all different age groups and cultures. Many of the people live in the same neighborhood and Brian and his family with many of the children also attending the same school as him

MESOSYSTEM • The mesosystem is the connections between Brian’s microsystems (Harwood, Miller, Vasta, 2008) • HOME SCHOOL • SCHOOL CHURCH • CHURCH NEIGHBORHOOD BRIAN • NEIGHBORHOOD HOME • Home and School • * Brian’s school friend Ted and Bill often come over to his house on the weekend where the boys play together. His mother once in awhile calls his teacher and regularly attends the parent teacher interviews. • School and Church • * Brian’s school, base their principles, values and beliefs on Christian belief’s that he hears about at church. At school, Brian’s teacher frequently teaches the class about the experiences he has had at church. • Church and Neighborhood • * Brian’s attends the children’s church activities after mass with other children in the neighborhood who also attend his school. At this time his parents also do parenting activities with other parents in the neighborhood. • Neighborhood and Home • * When Brian goes back to Mrs. Dickson’s place, Mr. Dickson is still at work so most of the time he is just with her. Mrs. Dickson family and Brian’s family have dinner together sometimes.

EXOSYSTEM • The exosystem is the social settings that can affect Brian even though he is not physically presence (Harwood, Miller, Vasta, 2008) • PARENTS WORKPLACE • MEDIA • PARENTS SOCIAL CIRCLE MESOSYSTEM MICROSYSTEM BRIAN • LEGAL SERVICES • Parents workplace • Brian’s parents both have hard labor jobs. His mother works at a storage factory whereas his father works in a metal factory. • Media • - Brian watches television in his house on a daily bases. His parents also watch television and read newspapers. • Parent’s social circle • - Brian’s parents have workmates with kids around the same age as Brian. Brian’s parents are friend mainly with people in their neighborhood. • Legal Services • Brian’s parents receive health services and bonus funds from the government which gives them support in their daily expenses. The government also gives bonus funds to the catholic school that Brian attends.

MACROSYSTEM • The Macrosystem involves the beliefs, values & traditions of the systems which affect Brian (Harwood, Miller, Vasta, 2008 • BELIEFS • VALUES EXOSYSTEM MESOSYSTEM MICROSYSTEM BRIAN • TRADITIONS • HOME • Brian’s parent’s believe that children can be successful in their future if they have a good education and study hard. They value their child Brian the most and raise him up like the way they were with rules upon education, religion and social activities • SCHOOL • Brian’s school believe that all children have the right to education that will hopefully lead them in the right path of life. They value the children in the community and have a tradition, being adults to have a responsibility to lead children in the correct path. • CHRUCH • The church believes that children should be protected from the harm in society and follow Jesus footpath. The church values the children and adults in it’s community as God’s people are precious and should grow to be good people of the church. • NEIGHBORHOOD • The neighborhood and society believe that children are their future and that they should be well educated. The neighborhood values all its children and adults and want the parent’s in it’s society to do their best to protect their child from the dangers around them.

  7. CHRONOSYSTEM • The chronosystem is the change over time and the growth of Brian that affects the connections that take happen among the systems (Harwood, Miller, Vista, 2008) • MICROSYSTEM • MESOSYSTEM CHRONOSYSTEM BRIAN • EXOSYSTEM OVER A PERIOD OF TIME • MACROSYSTEM • Since Brian is now older, he is able to stay at home by himself. He now spends a lot of time at home using the internet and watching TV. Brian now catches the bus to school and home. He doesn’t go home with Mrs. Dickson anymore. • Brian doesn't get along with his present teacher. And still frequently participates in the sport activities offered at school. • Brian does not go out with his parents on the weekend like he use to when he was younger. He still goes church every weekend with his parent’s but they now don’t attend church activities.
