  2. Itinerary June 15-20, 2014 • June 15-depart at Thruway Shopping Center; check in Space Camp by 2:00 pm CT • June 15-20-Space Camp Program • June 20-Graduation; Departure; Return at 11:00 pm at Thruway Shopping Center

  3. Cost • Total cost of trip-$990 Includes-transportation, meals at SpaceCamp, lodging, all camp programs • Additional Cost-$25 to cover the cost of a meal on the way down and returning home. • Money for souvenirs-Space Camp recommends the use of traveler checks or prepaid debt cards. This is not required. SpaceCamp discourages sending cash with students.

  4. Payment Schedule • 1st payment due at time of reservation-$330 • December 2-$330 • February 3-$330

  5. How to Pay? • Check-made payable to Hanes Middle School • Online- You may pay online using a credit card. Please note there is a 4% fee with all online payments. Go to www.hanesmagnet.org for all online payments.

  6. Transportation We will travel by motor coach.

Space Academy Weeklong Program Moonwalk in a 1/6th Gravity Chair and feel what it's like to work in a frictionless environment in the Manned Maneuvering Unit.  Build and launch a two stage rocket and learn teamwork and leadership at the leadership reaction course.  Space Academy incorporates real-world applications of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Trainees prepare to become the next generation of lunar explorers, with hands-on activities that place them in the role of spacecraft designers and astronauts on the Moon.  Trainees face exciting challenges in the Space Station Mission Complex.  Technically-challenging anomalies task trainees to use knowledge and critical thinking skills to solve problems and save the mission!

  8. Aviation Challenge-Mach II Fly head to head against other squadrons in high performance simulators in MACH II.  Learn teamwork, leadership and professionalism on our Leadership Reaction Course.  Middle school trainees are put through the paces of wilderness and water survival training where they learn shelter building and food procurement.  Trainees experience the force of 3 Gs in a one of a kind centrifuge trainer.  Along with teamwork, trainees learn about flight physiology, aeronautics, propulsion, history, aerodynamics and the fundamentals of flight.  This is a military style program that uses simulated, realistic combat scenarios.

  10. Chaperones • Space Camp allows 1 teacher per 12 students • Parents who wish to attend are not allowed to participate in Space Camp programs or stay at the facilities. Parents will need to make arrangements for their own transportation, lodging, and meals.
