  1. Integration Eric Anderssen, LBNL May 11 2010

  2. Scope of Review in March • Date 25-May (Tuesday) to avoid STAR opening • This is not an integration review—it is the review of the IDS only • Clearly a discussion of integration is required, but will attempt to limit details to those affecting the IDS • No details of MSC Mounted detectors will be discussed, only mass • SSD only discussed in terms of Service Burden/mass and layout • We are only making the WSC, but this defines diameter of OSC, and performance of IDS • The goal is to keep the review from being hijacked by detector detailed discussion.

  3. Crude Agenda • Overview of STAR Tracker Upgrade • Description of FGT and HFT; placement in STAR • Integration Description • Interfaces of IDS to STAR • Detector impacts on IDS (requirements pre-amble) • Requirements and Structural Performance • Description of requirements (e.g. sag, stability) • Performance, e.g. FEM • E-Field Shroud • Requirements (not discussion) • Performance analysis—proposed QC after production • Production Plan/Schedule • Tooling and procedures; QC description • Cost and Schedule (?) • Close-out

  4. Charge of Review • Are the interfaces well understood/presented? • Does the design meet performance requirements? • Subsets, e.g. e-field, stabililty, strength • Is the production plan proposed meet acceptable quality standards for BNL • Give us some direction on ‘Safety’ aspects that might impact design…

  5. Status of Integration • Documents are in E-room and actively being revised • Each of the sub-Detectors in the IDS has a document that is nearly complete • Contain Service Cross-sections, Mass of combined detector elements, and Stability Requirements • Discussion of Stability, Tolerance, Precision is complete, need to propagate to documents • Does not impact strongly IDS • Document which combines detector tables also in e-room, will update shortly
