  2. Church 3.0 • Form and format of “church” is changing • Presented the trends last year, and in webinars about Faith Formation 2020 • To be relevant, need to change how we do religious community • Lowering our walls, and going beyond them • Challenge to us all, and necessary

  3. Move toward Regionalization Two levels of regionalization: • Regional Staff work • How we provide support to congregations • Cross border resource sharing • Regional Governance work • How our districts are shaped and formed • How work of staff overseen

Way of Our Future • MidAmerica staff working together to create unified administrative structure and more alignment in programs • Administrative alignment by July 1, 2013 • Includes work to bring some programs in line by then; others later (or not at all) • Living into the ambiguity of it all!

  5. Because . . . • Nature of church is changing • Technology allows us to work differently • We can’t afford what we’ve always done • We’re living into the ambiguity of it all!

  9. Specialized Work • The 200+ level work in the generalized areas plus: • Multicultural Competency • Multigenerational Community • Faith Formation for the 21st Century • Learning Communities • Professional Transitions • Social Justice as Faith Work • Electronic Presence • More!

  10. Look For: • Shared website July 2012 • Tech position with someone able to help congregations with technology questions • Reduction in hours of Heartland Administrator to reflect no longer doing web work • Shared Administration by July 2013 • Shared Financials (including budget) by July 2013

  11. Living with the Questions • We’re not totally sure all that will happen • Moving toward shared understanding of all program areas: Chalice Lighters, Youth/Young Adult events, trainings, webinars • Transition will continue for the next 2+ years • Know that things will continue to evolve
