  6. Reactivity • Water-forms bases • Halogens( Series of nonmetal elements)- to form salts • Oxygen- to form oxides(is a chemical compound that contains at least one oxygen atom and one other element in its chemical formula). • Acids- to form Hydrogen gas

  7. Common Uses • Na- Table salt, Sodium Chloride. Used in many companies. • Li- Heat transfer, Synthesizing organic compounds. Useful for batteries • K- Fertilizer, heat transfer. • Rb- very thin batteries, some medication. Fireworks.

  8. Common Uses Cont. • Cs- Oil industry, cancer treatment, nuclear power • Fr- Unstable and rare. No common uses.
