  2. Dance defined: Dance is a type of art that generally involves movement of the body, often rhythmic and to music. It is performed in many cultures as a form of emotional expression, social interaction, or exercise, in a spiritualor performance setting, and is sometimes used to express ideas or tell a story. Dance may also be regarded as a form of nonverbal communication between humans

  3. Genre (Gen·re) a category of artistic composition, as in music, literature, or dance, characterized by similarities in form, style, or subject matter.

  5. Ballet: Balletis an artistic dance form performed to music using precise and highly formalized set steps and gestures. Classical ballet, which originated in 15th century Renaissance Italy and established its present form during the 19th century, is characterized by light, graceful, fluid movements and the use of pointe shoes.

  6. CONTEMPORARY BALLET is a genre of dance that incorporates elements of classical ballet and modern dance. It employs classical ballet technique and in many cases classical pointe technique as well, but it allows a greater range of movement and may deviate from the strict body lines and forms found in traditional, classical ballet.
