  2. Introductions • The Dais welcomes the delegations • There are 3 people on the Dais: • The Chair • The Director • The Rapporteur

  4. Placards • Each delegation has a placard • You raise the placard when you want to speak or vote

  5. Read your speeches • This is called formal debate • Speeches are 90 seconds long

  6. I have to give a SPEECH?!?!? • Yes! • You and your partner will be reading a speech about your country and it’s position

  7. Do I have to write this speech? • YES! • But don’t worry, it will be easy.

  34. MOTION If you want to change or end debate, you will use a:

  35. Motion for Moderated Caucus • “[My country] motions to suspend debate for a moderated caucus of 10 minutes.”

  36. Motion for Unmoderated Caucus • “[My country] motions to suspend debate for an unmoderated caucus of 10 minutes” • This is a break to speak with other delegates and write resolutions.

  37. Motion to Adjourn Debate • “[My country] motions to adjourn debate.” • Switch debate to a new topic

  38. Motion to Close Debate • “[My country] motions to close debate.” • This will finish formal debate and voting will begin

  39. Motion to Adjourn the Meeting • “[My country] motions to adjourn the meeting” • This will end the meeting of Global Classrooms
