Glossary • Osteoarthritis - A form of arthritis, occurring mainly in older persons, that is characterized by chronic degeneration of the cartilage of the joints. • Infrapatellar Fat Pad - The infrapatellar fat pad refers to a region of fatty tissue lying deep to the patellar tendon, also known as Hoffa's fat pad. • Popliteus - A muscle located in the floor of the popliteal space in close contact with the posterior capsule of the knee joint. • Orthopaedic Surgeon - Orthopaedic surgeons evaluate and treat bone, joint, tendon and ligament disorders and diseases • Prepatellar Bursa - The prepatellar bursa is a synovial-lined potential space lying between the skin surface and the anterior aspect of the patella.
