  3. To anticipate tomorrow, we have to anticipate…

  4. The World is Changing fast… • 30 billion pieces of content were added to Face book this past month • 32 billion searches were performed last month... on Twitter • More than 2 billion videos were watched on YouTube... Yesterday • The average teenager sends 4,762 text messages per month • Worldwide IP traffic will quadruple by 2015 • Four overarching themes that are influencing all the trends: • Empowerment • The App Internet • Everything-as-a-service, and • Big Data More changes may be on the way; we need to be watchful….

  5. Let us do an Introspection… • Cost Pressure • Time pressure • Too many changes and scope creep, difficult to factor them in • Slipping plan • Building incrementally without full master plan • Capacity getting full very often • Difficulty to provide information as needed by business

  6. A few things that we can do… • Enterprise architecture approach • Visualise and create a end state document • Rapid implementation - the world will not freeze • Be prepared to handle changes- capacitise and plan for it • Garner adequate support for investment upfront • Clear view of long term business strategy • Select scalable technology • Proper information management strategy

  7. A few traps down the journey… Too busy with the business of IT Loosing the sight of master plan Over cost consciousness Over obsession of metrics and calculations

  8. Take Away Please do ponder Are solving yesterday’s problems today or solving tomorrow’s problems today?
