    3. VR&E - A UNIQUE PROGRAM VR&E is not for everyone It works when you work

    4. WHO QUALIFIES? Veteran who has: a 10% Final Rating from VA applied for and completed the VR&E program within 12 years of VA notification of eligibility a discharge other than dishonorable A service member or veteran must also have an employment handicap

    5. VR&E Program Five Tracks To Employment Reemployment Rapid Access To Employment Employment Through Long Term Services Independent Living Services Self-Employment

    6. RE-EMPLOYMENT For veterans who want to return to the job they left prior to coming on active duty. VR&E can help you understand your rights under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Act (USERRA)

    7. RAPID ACCESS TO EMPLOYMENT Veterans have the training, education & experience to become suitably employed Work with them in developing a resume, job seeking skills & limited training

    8. EMPLOYMENT THROUGH LONG TERM SERVICES For those who need specialized training and/or education VR&E provides valuable services such as: OJT Apprenticeships Internships Job Shadowing Higher Education

    9. INDEPENDENT LIVING Veterans who are so severely disabled that they cant go to work right now. Very individualized service VR&E can help

    10. SELF-EMPLOYMENT For those who want to be self-employed Last possible track for employment. Have determined other tracks will not work Provide training and possibly minimal supplies Cannot provide rent or lease of property

    11. OTHER SERVICES PROVIDED Medical Dental Optical Mental Health Treatment

    12. HOW TO APPLY FOR VR&E ? Submit VA Form 28-1900, Application for Vocational Rehabilitation Benefits Web Site - www.va.gov Paper application & mail

    13. HOW TO GET SERVICES Entitlement is not automatic. If eligible, you must participate in a comprehensive evaluation with a counselor A VA counselor must make several decisions

    14. POST 911 GI BILL Effective August 1, 2011 Changes include Veterans entitled to Vocational Rehabilitation & Post 911 can choose to receive BAH rate instead of subsistence allowance No break pay
