Join us for the 2014 Buchanan County VET CAMP on July 14th! This event, hosted by Dr. Shelly Reid from Jesup Veterinary Clinic and Dr. Don Dutler, along with volunteers from Hawkeye Community College’s Veterinary Assistant Program, is perfect for youth ages 7-18 aspiring to pursue a career in Veterinary Medicine. Participants will learn hands-on skills such as small animal physical exams, CPR for dogs, suturing, blood drawing, and more. Space is limited to 30 participants per age group. Event is hosted by Dr. Shelly Reid, Jesup Veterinary Clinic, Dr. Don Dutler, and volunteers from Hawkeye Community College’s Veterinary Assistant Program. • 2014 Buchanan County • VET CAMP Monday, July 14th Ages 7 thru 12 – 1:30-3:00 p.m. Ages 13 thru 18 – 3:00-5:00 p.m. Learn about physical exams on small animals, CPR for dogs, suturing, blood drawing, large animal anatomy, bandaging, injection site basics, basic biosecurity, interesting pathology specimens, and bovine palpation skills. Limited to 30 participants per age group. No charge, but does not include parking at the fairgrounds. Must pre-register to attend by calling the Buchanan County ISU Extension and Outreach office at 319-334-7161.
