  2. Why are you interested in being a Dental Hygienists?? • The reason why I want to become a Dental hygienist is to help people to have pretty teeth and feel confident with there smile. • I have always taken really good care of my teeth an have enjoyed going to the dentist to get my teeth clean.

  3. Description of the Job • Dental hygienistsremoves deposits from teeth, teach patients how to practice good oral hygiene, and provide other dental care. They examine patients' teeth and gums, they also look for diseases • Hygienists use x-ray machines to take dental pictures, and sometimes develop the film. They may use models of teeth to explain oral hygiene, perform root planning , or apply cavity-preventative agents such as fluorides, pit and fissure sealants. • Other jobs hygienists may perform vary by State. In some States, hygienists are allowed to use anesthetics. Some States also allow hygienists to place and carve filling materials, temporary fillings, and periodontal dressings, smooth and polish metal restorations. • Dental hygienists also help patients develop and maintain good oral health. They may tell patients how to select toothbrushes and show them how to brush and floss their teeth.

  5. Education Required • A high school diploma and college entrance test scores are usually required for a pass to a dental hygiene program. High school students interested in becoming dental hygienists should take courses in biology, chemistry, and mathematics. Some dental hygiene programs also require applicants to have completed at least one year of college. Specific entrance requirements typically vary from one school to another.

  6. Minimum Educational degree required • Most dental hygiene programs grant an associate degree, although some also offer a certificate, a bachelor's degree, or a master's degree. A minimum of an associate degree or certificate in dental hygiene is generally required for practice in a private dental office.

  7. Pay • The average is about $30 an hour Bigger cities tend to pay more, as much as $50-55 an hour in metro California. $40-$45 an hour in Seattle. As low as $15-20 in economically depressed areas. • hygienist will make around $30,000 their first few year. As they get more experience they can get an average of about $70,000. In some areas the pay can be even over $90,000.
