  1. Exploring our community “Today we are taking a walk to the Post office. What do you think we may see at the post office? “stamps, and lock boxes” said Emily. “animal stamps” said Sophie. “envelopes” said Vinnie. We are learning about our community as we walk to the post office, we will extending are knowledge even further as we visit the library, Panera Breadand the Dollar Store. We watched our neighbors come into the post office to open their mail boxes. This lead the group to wonder why some people have mailboxes at the post office? The children decided to buy the purple heart stamps from the post master. A lot of language development is apparent. As we reach the post office we notice the USPS symbol. We see all the different size boxes and envelopes, and we especially enjoy looking at the colorful stamps and the USA Philatelic; the official source for stamp enthusiasts.

  2. Our Trip to Panera Bread was very exciting as we expanded our knowledge of community once again as were given a tour of the bakery and then joined together to share a snack. Earlier in the morning the children talked about how many bagels we would need to order for each child. Realizing that we had 24 children that day, we decided we needed 24 bagels + 4 teachers= 28 bagels. Math plays an important role everyday!
