This study explores the experiences of mature, part-time nursing students (N=22) on a post-qualifying module utilizing an innovative assessment strategy comprising 80% essay and 20% blog. Focus groups examined pre- and post-blog sentiments, revealing themes such as fear of the unknown, the importance of bravery, and the impact of collegiality. Key insights emphasize the need for clear academic requirements, a supportive blogging environment, and understanding students' anxieties. By balancing content and style, this approach aims to respect diverse backgrounds and enhance learning outcomes.
