Strategies for Taking Multiple Choice Tests • Read the question before you look at the answers. • Look at the possible choices so that you know the format of the answer. • Eliminate answers you know aren't right. • Read all the choices before choosing your answer. • Try to picture the situation when given a story problem. • Never leave an answer blank.

  8. Strategies (continued) • Don't keep on changing your answer. Usually your first choice is the right one, unless you misread the question. • In a question with an "All of the above" choice, if you see that at least two correct statements, then "All of the above" is probably the answer. • Estimation – Round the values and find a reasonable answer. • Eliminate the unreasonable answers. • Work backward. Plug in the answers and find the correct solution(s).
