  3. About Our College • The College of Health and Human Services offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in a wide range of disciplines. Through our richly diverse and highly qualified faculty, we strive to be leader in connections to the community, collaboration with other universities, research, community service, number of active centers, and number of students seeking professional careers. Our academic programs collaborate with community partners to create a student-centered learning environment that accurately reflects the dynamic societal needs. • The numerous departments, programs, and research centers create an environment where academic excellence can thrive and our students can prepare to serve the community.

  4. Communicative Disorders The Department of Communicative Disorders provides effective, state-of-the-art instruction & clinical and educational practice in speech-language pathology. Criminal Justice • The Department of Criminal Justice offers programs that are designed to provide students with an appropriate academic background for a professional career in corrections, law enforcement, probation, parole, and social security agencies.

Family and Consumer Sciences • The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences offers programs to prepare students to enter professions concerned with enhancing the quality of life of individuals, families, and communities. Health Care Administration • The Department of Health Care Administration teaches the business side of health care. Graduates work as analysts, administrative support staff, customer service, managers, consultant, information specialists in many different kinds of organizations (both public and private), independent business owners in hospitals, managed care organizations (HMOs and PPOs), insurance companies, and governmental health agencies.

  7. Health Science • The Department of Health Science teaches students an understanding of how to promote the health and well-being of organizations, schools, businesses, and communities. The program focuses on environmental influences, which include the cultural and societal context in which health behavior occurs and also emphasizes the processes for developing and changing individual attitudes and behaviors towards health. Kinesiology • The Department of Kinesiology offers programs of study for students wishing to prepare for professional careers in physical education teaching (Adapted, Elementary, and Secondary) or related disciplines (Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Fitness, Kinesiotherapy, Sport Psychology and Coaching, Sports Management). The Department also serves the needs of students completing majors in other fields who find that certain aspects of Kinesiology are important to their professional objectives and personal interests.

School of Nursing • The School of Nursing is a student-centered program whose mission is to educate undergraduate and graduate students to become quality professionals for entry into practice in diverse community settings. Students are taught to develop an understanding of self and others, and to develop the ability to work with colleagues to identify and resolve the health of individuals and families in a changing society. School of Social Work • The School of Social Work prepare prepares a diverse student population for Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (BASW) and Master in Social Work (MSW) degrees for professional social work practice. Graduates are able to demonstrate competent and ethical practice with diverse and multicultural populations from a base that builds on advances in social work knowledge, values and skills;  enhance the well-being and address the needs of diverse and multicultural populations across the life span; and  advocate for social justice and social change and for elimination of oppression and discrimination.

Physical Therapy The Master's of Physical Therapy curriculum is a competency based program designed to prepare entry-level practitioners who will become an integral part of the medical rehabilitation team as a professional health care provider. Successful completion of the degree requirements leads to a Masters degree in physical therapy and qualifies one to write the State of California examination to practice as a physical therapist. Recreation & Leisure Studies The Department of Recreation & Leisure Studies prepares students for positions of supervision and administration in public recreation and parks, therapeutic recreation, outdoor education, camp administration, voluntary youth and adult services, travel and tourism, and commercial recreation.

Graduate Center for Public Policy & Administration • The Graduate Center for Public Policy & Administration offers a NASPAA accredited MPA degree that is geared toward enhancing the excellence of public service in Southern California. The on-campus program offers students the convenience of evening and weekend classes in a challenging, yet comfortable academic environment. In addition to the general MPA degree, the GCPPA also offers options in Urban Administration or Public Works Administration as well as various certificate programs.
